My Journey as a Marketer and as Developer Has been an Unique Experience

My story

Back in 2011, my brother and I, just a duo connected through an internet forum, kicked off our journey by delivering our very first WordPress project. It was on WordPress version 3.1 for a chemical company called CHP Chemical Industries.

The project was straightforward, but the client wanted a job board on their careers page — a feature that was hard to come by back then with very few job board plugins available. So, we rolled up our sleeves and customized a plugin from the ground up to fit their exact needs. Successfully completing that project was a major milestone for us.

We earned our first paycheck of 20,000 takas, splitting it evenly. For a high schooler at the time, that 10,000 takas felt huge — and it sparked my desire to learn more. I dove into courses on WordPress theme and plugin development, got my hands dirty with PHP basics, and explored frameworks like Redux.

From there, one client led to another, bringing fresh projects and challenges. After finishing school and stepping into university, I set up a profile on oDesk (now Upwork), opening the door to global opportunities. Later, I became a top-rated seller on Fiverr, at a time when the competition wasn’t as fierce.

Eventually, my teammate moved abroad, marking the end of our partnership, RAWEBLAB (the name a playful blend of our initials: R for Rabby, A for Anirban). I broadened my skillset, diving deep into PHP frameworks — CakePHP, Symfony, and Laravel.

Then, one unexpected day, I woke up to find my Fiverr account disabled. Apparently, around 6,000 accounts from Bangladesh were banned due to a scam, and I lost nearly all my contacts except those connected via Skype. It was tough, but it pushed me to shift my mindset.

If I was starting over, I knew I wanted to build something bigger — my own agency. That’s how WEBRY came to life. By 2015, I had assembled my first team, including a friend and an Indian developer. We tackled everything from CRM and ERP systems to blogging platforms. Honestly, by 2018, I had lost count of how many gigs and projects we had completed.

Then came an exciting chapter — getting selected into the startup ecosystem through the pioneering accelerator program, GP ACCELERATOR. Our startup, DESHIFARMER, saw me as CTO and co-founder. Though I can’t recall our exact batch, I was fortunate to be part of the GP Accelerator’s merger with Seedstars—a well-known mentorship and VC fund from Sweden. We were among the top 10 startups for four intense months.

That period was a crash course in startup essentials: product-market fit, business model canvas, equity and dilution — and pitching every single day, adapting and pivoting our product constantly. It was an incredible learning experience.

From there, I expanded my horizons — diving into Android app development, API integration, and design tools like Adobe XD and Figma, picking up UX/UI design and user research along the way.

In 2019, I stepped away from Deshifarmer to focus on my graduation, which I completed in 2020 with a major in marketing. Since then, I’ve been blending my tech and marketing expertise, developing Android and web apps for clients, working with startups, and exploring business ventures through flipping projects.

This unique blend made me feel like a bridge between marketing and technology, driving me to create martech solutions for clients both locally and globally with my trusted team at Apex.

And for the past year, I’ve been deeply immersed in AI — learning, experimenting, and truly enjoying the journey.

The story’s still unfolding. I have goals, a vision, and faith that the best is yet to come. Rest assured, only Allah knows what’s next.

And that’s my story so far — a continuous adventure fueled by passion, growth, and resilience.
